Fergus Falls Boys Basketball (Season Preview)

By Craig Olson - Fergus Falls, MN

The Fergus Falls Otters graduated the majority of their varsity experience last spring with Nathan Rund (MSUM-Basketball), Harrison ChristensenAustin Stanislawski (M State-Baseball), Marshall King (Concordia-Football), Noah RaitzEric Salveson (M State-Baseball) and Jacob Marvel all moving on.  Head Coach Matt Johnson begins his third year at the helm and will be assisted by Dave RundKeith PearsonJosh Grove and Ryan Johnson.

"Our team lacks significant experience outside of Matt Johnson (SR, G), who is a 4-year varsity contributor and Nic Pearson (SR, G), who played quality minutes as a junior," said Coach Johnson.  "We do have a nice core group of players who have committed themselves in the off season and put in the work to be successful this year.  I look forward to watching the growth of this team over the course of the year."

Ethan Olson (JR, F) appears to be fully recovered from last year's season ending knee injury, as he spent the fall quarterbacking the Otter football team.  Senior Bauer Rogelstad (F), juniors Parker Jacobs (G), Cody Norgren (F) and Brock Kotschevar (G), and sophomore Dominic Aguilar (G) will all be in the varsity mix.

As for the competition, Coach Johnson says, "Willmar is an experienced team who returns a majority of their team from last year when they were Central Lakes Conference champs.  In our section, I anticipate about six teams to be very competitive and it will be fun to watch how it all shakes out in the end."
